Bridal Style Trends for 2018

Wow, its been a while since I've put pen to paper so to speak, but we're back, and back with the good stuff...

Bridal trends...

You will have seen them on the catwalks at the start of the summer and now we are going to start seeing them on some beautiful real brides! We are now on the cusp of the 2019 collections being revealed and I think we'll be seeing more of the same, some serious sexiness in the shape of plunging necklines, split skirts and sheer panelling, more beautiful blushes and blues and of course some serious sparkle.

So let me talk you through them and how you can achieve them at The Bottom Drawer Bridal!

Plunging Necklines...

As the years go on, the necklines appear to get lower and lower. Not a trend for everyone but it doesn't have to be as revealing as you think! Sassi Holford nails this trend beautifully with several gowns from her Twenty 18 Collection, one available with us is Allegra. She is a beautiful silk crepe skirt with train; The cotton lace top features pleated sleeve detail and waist band detail.

Split Skirts...

Another beaut from Sassi Holford is the gorgeous Eliza, this sexy number features a centre split and beautiful lace detailed top. Not sure about this trend then don't worry, she is also available without split!

Sheer...

This is a huge trend for 2018 and I can only imagine it's here to stay for 2019, now when I say Sheer of course there are going to be some sexier than others, but you don't have to go all out if you don't want to! Charlotte Balbier has produced some serious babes for this year with this trend, Sonnett being one of my favs, a Romantic bridal gown with heavily floral appliques on a sheer illusion bodice and a tulle princess skirt.

Sparkle

So theres always going to be some form of sparkle on these bridal trends, it's never going to go away, but this year, theres sparkle and then theres sparkle... House of Mooshki Phyllis has taken it to a whole new level.

Sleeves...

Since Kate Middleton walked down the aisle, everyone has wanted sleeves and I think they are here to stay... Charlotte Balbier has done this beautifully with Tuesday, a elegantly simple chiffon skirted gown, with a lace, bardot style bodice and 3/4 length sleeves.

Bows

I mean come on, who doesn't love a bow? The bigger the better in my opinion, and no, i'm not about to go all 80's retro on you all. Trick is, keep everything else as simple as possible, Charlotte Balbier has done this perfectly with Jayde. Available in either a gorgeous green and pink floral print or stunning ivory! Still not sure, how about some pockets for a deal breaker?!

A touch of Black

Who doesn't love an LBD? Not quite what you want for your wedding day I know, but there are ways to add a little of the dark side to your one and only bridal gown! Sassi's Hettie is one of my all time fav's... Not feeling the black? She can always come with an ivory belt with stunning diamanté and pearl detail on the belt and shoulders.

Off the shoulder

Bardot is a style that is going to be around for some time to come, (although if you dont wear it day to day, your wedding day may not be the day to start!) Perfect for showing off your gorgeous décolletage, you could team it with a beautiful chocker, or maybe a delicate pendant. Charlotte's Sasha is perfect for all you princess brides!

Something Blue...

Why not have your dress as something blue? Baby blues and Greys were quite prominant on the catwalks for the 2018 collection and I can only see there being more with 2019! House of Mooshki's Elle is a gorgeous blue Satin gown with a delicate silk damask overlay, but for those of you not sure about the print, ALL of Mooshki's gowns can be done in their stunning shade of duck egg blue!

Capes

Now this has to be one of my favourite trends for 2018, the cape! Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of the veil, but its not for everyone. The cape on the other hand, I feel this is one everyone can get on board with. Charlotte has done this beautifully with Romy from the Bohemian Blush collection but my absolute favourite has to be Nina from House of Mooshki! The cape is on the back of the dress rather than on the shoulders, and is detachable! Is she not just amazing?!

Finally, A splash of red...

Not where would we be without the shoes.... as we all know, I am obsessed with all things shoe, and even more so when Florence is involved! Not brave enough to add colour to your dress, then go for the shoes, and Florence has the perfect solution!
