Wedding Dress Shopping, It's all in the timing...

Wedding dress shopping is a tricky business, finding the right boutique, the right style and of course, doing till all at the right time to ensure a completely stress free shopping experience.

Finding the dress too early, you run the risk of changing your mind when newer collections start to appear and starting the search too late, you are looking at adding additional rush charges to your order or maybe being left with off the rack as your only choice.

Less than 6 months

Don’t get me wrong, this can be done, but if you are the kind of person that doesn’t cope well with stress then this is not going to be the one for you. So when I say this can be done, what I mean is that some designers carry a small amount of stock meaning that dresses can be available within a few days, so if you happen to have fallen in love with a gown that happens to be in stock in your size then it goes without saying it was of course meant to be, just note that when I say this is a rare occurrence, I mean it’s a rare beyond rare occurrence!
Should you not be able to get the dream dress from stock and you are able to place a rush order this is going to come with a potentially huge rush fee, so not only are we then cutting your alterations time down to the bare minimum which could also come with much higher costs and high stress levels

6 - 9 months

So again this is completely doable, and while we might be in a position to order your dress without the rush fees, we are going to be cutting it super fine for your alterations. I want those last few weeks before your wedding to be super calm, I don’t want you panicking that with only a couple of weeks to go that we haven’t yet started your alterations!

9-12 months

For those of you who can make a firm decision without umming and arring about the other shops you might want to visit, this is your sweet spot. You have all options open to you, you can order any gown on the rails and there are no rush fees involved. There will be no worrying about the dress arriving on time and no having to rush the alterations. Now for those of you who need to take your time with your decision and maybe have more than one dream boutique that you want to visit, while this timeline might start off all ok, take too long getting to all those boutiques and making that final decision you do run the risk of quickly slipping into the 6-9 month bracket and making things very stressful for yourself very quickly!

12 - 18 months

This is where you want to be, that bridal sweet spot, you have your pick of the boutique, you can take your time if you want to, there’s plenty of time for the dress to arrive, for you to then choose your accessories and style them together, plenty of time to find the right shoes and underwear ready for your first fitting, the whole experience is calm, straight forward and just easy! There is no other word for it! Simple and straightforward!
