Shopping for your wedding dress in the style of Celine dion - all by yourself!

It goes without saying that shopping for your wedding dress has got to be one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning, I mean especially if you and your entourage are planning to make a day of it with a gorgeous celebratory lunch.

I mean, the wedding dress is the bit that many women daydream about even before getting engaged. Is it not?

Bringing the gang along with you to help you shop can be a wonderful, memory making experience; however, it can also become potentially stressful if opinions clash and causes drama within the group.

Over the last couple of years, with the joy that has been Covid, bringing all the aunts, godmothers and grandmothers, the neighbour’s sisters cousin hasn’t be possible, therefore meaning that many brides are choosing to go it alone when shopping for THE ONE.

Could shopping alone be the way forward for you?

sense of calm

Shopping alone will give you the space to enjoy the experience with the sense of calm that as a stylist, is the ultimate goal of your experience with me, apart from finding your wedding dress obviously! No stress, No opposing opinions, a calm and clear environment for you to be clear on your decision! And that’s just what it is when you shop alone, your decision!

too many opinions

The more people you bring with you to your appointment, the more voices you are inviting into your wedding day. Would you ask all the groomsmen what their thoughts are on the tablecentre or are the bridesmaids going to choosing the menu for you? Lets be honest here, in the kindest possible way, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about YOUR dress. They won’t be wearing it, they won’t be treasuring the memories of how you felt walking down the aisle for years to come, they, despite how much they love you, don’t have the same emotional investments you do. Putting it simply, they are never going to care as deeply as you do!

freedom to shop when you want

Another beautiful perk of shopping for your wedding dress all on your lonesome? You shop whenever the hell you want! There’s no waiting for Nan/Auntie/neighbours sister’s best friend to come back to you and let you know when they are free. You get to shop on your own terms.

So to of course play devils advocate, shopping for your wedding dress alone isn’t for everyone. You wont have that same experience of having the girls with you for that Yes moment and then having that photo together to celebrate on social media. For some that sounds like the dream and for others not having to go through that is the dream.

No ask the audience

Should we come down to a tie break situation, you might want that 3rd or 4th other opinion from Mum or Maid of Honour to help you, I am of course on hand to offer my opinion but sometimes you just need to hear it from a loved one.

too much drama

Finally it can cause Drama, I’ve had brides who have shopped alone in the boutique and then come back with Mum and I’ve had to pretend that we’ve never met. Let’s not pretend Weddings don’t sometimes bring out the worst in some people and what they have perhaps assumed their roles would be. While you may not be having the issue of well if I invite them I will have to invite them too, you can go the other way and upset everyone in not inviting anyone!

Moral of this long drawn out story, there is no right or wrong way of shopping for your wedding dress, but there is absolutely no shame whatsoever in shopping like the independant sassy woman that you are!

And I will always be by your side when that time comes!

All my love
