Who said Yes during Lockdown?

Who’d have thought 6 months down the line we would still be living in these crazy times…

hands up who said yes to the rock during lockdown?

Naturally the first thing you want to do is then say yes to the dress right? Of course you do, its the most exciting part of wedding planning! Well that and maybe the cake tasting but you see where I’m coming from. Being engaged is bloody exciting and you should be over the top giddy to get started on planning your big day! I know I was!

But how do you do that when you aren’t allowed to leave your house? I imagine that since your significant other got down on one knee you have become one with Pinterest and Instagram, this has obviously been the perfect time to really get down and dirty with your wedding research. Finding all those amazing suppliers who can provide you with the day you have always dreamed off, I mean that’s what furlough was for right?

Saying yes to the dress…

So this post has actually been sitting in the drafts pile for a few months now, the plan was to publish it when I was due to reopen but I was terrified that I would be putting you off from visiting me, which obviously after 3 months of no income, is the last thing that I wanted to do.

Things are different now, I have new procedures in place, we have new rules that we need to follow, therefore this post is coming to you with some honesty and with every bit of my heart…

Before you book your appointment with me, I need to ask you two questions?

Do you have your wedding venue booked? and Is your Wedding day in less than a year?

If you have answered YES to BOTH of these questions then yes, NOW is the time to get your appointment booked in with me.

You may have read from a previous post that I would normally recommend ordering your dress at least 6/7 months before your wedding day, but really for your own peace of mind (and mine) I would really recommend upping that to at least 9/10 months ideally 12!

If you have answered NO to either or both of those questions, without pissing on your parade, this is not the time to be shopping for your wedding dress and I know just a few weeks ago I wrote about why you shouldn’t be waiting to say Yes to the Dress but honestly the next sentence may well be the scariest thing I’ve ever written but here’s goes…

Without it sounding like its about the money, because it’s genuinely not, right now I need to know that when you come into my boutique you are 100% deadly serious about buying your wedding dress, if you haven’t yet set a date or got your venue, and you are just coming in for a ‘look around’ then to put it bluntly, this is going to be a waste of everyone’s time as well as a potential health risk (and I am trying so hard not to sound overly dramatic about this!)

I am doing and need to continue doing everything I can to keep myself, my family and my brides safe, if something happens to me or my family, the boutique will have to close once again.

Just saying.

I need to stay safe so that I can continue to look after the brides that have had to have their appointments postponed, the ones who had their fittings pushed back and of course all of the amazing brides who have sadly had to postpone their wedding days. I also need to stay safe so that when your time comes around and you are ready to find THE dress, I am still here!

Now if you have already got your appointment in the diary and you’re not getting married until 2022, please don’t take this post the wrong way, I am so ready for your appointment and so looking forward to meeting you and hearing all about your wedding plans. Honestly there is nothing I love more than to talk weddings with you all.

For all you lovely ladies who’ve been sitting on the fence, worried that you might be missing out on your wedding dress shopping experience by holding off a little, let me fill you in on a little secret…. by waiting just that little bit longer, you may well be the one of 1st brides to get your bums into BRAND new dresses!
