To Sleeve or not to sleeve?

When you think about style icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly and our more modern icons, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Eugenie, Olivia Palmaro and even Kim Kardashian-West; and you think about what they wore on their wedding day, not matter what shape, style and fabric they wore, they all had something in common, they all had a long sleeved wedding dress.

These days, a long-sleeve wedding dress doesn’t have to mean boring. It may well still be a very traditional look for your bridal gown but it can still be a beautifully modern and breathtaking gown.

Long sleeved wedding dresses can be classically elegant and modern or they can be a beautifully soft Bohemian gown, all depending on the shape of the dress, fabric and how you style your finished look.

Sassi Holford’s Vivian and Jodene are two of my absolute favourite gowns currently in the boutique, both bodices are a beautifully tailored silk crepe fabric, Jodene with her low open back, high neck and long sleeves creates a dramatic silhouette where as Vivian has a gorgeous deep V neckline, fitted sleeves and keyhole back which is then contrasted by the soft flowing tulle skirt.

For all you boho brides, Stelfox bride can offer you a variety of choices too, Matilda has a beautiful silk chiffon skirt with a lace bodice, open back and lace applique details on the sleeve where as for those of you wanting the fitted shape, Darcy is another gorgeous gown with a dramatic sillouette, her high neckline, low V back, her embroidered lace detail highlighted with subtle sequins makes for a stunning statement gown.

I personally love a long sleeved wedding gown, I love the elegance and the tradition of the look while still being a beautifully modern gown, a gown you could look back on in 20 years time and still love your dress!

What are your thoughts? Will you be rocking a sleeve? Have you tried one on yet?

I’d love to hear what you think!

All my love
