How to choose the right tribe… pt 2

Lets be honest here, I may well be exaggerating on some points and this isn’t going to be true for all the members of your tribe, but you know what, these scenarios have happened and bringing to whole gang to your appointment isn’t always for the best.

The Mum who thinks it’s her day too

We all know who I’m talking about, we’ve all seen them on Say Yes to the Dress, we all laugh and roll our eyes but you know what, that’s going to be me one day! Haha.

It’s happened in the boutique, brides have come in and told me all about this dress that they have found at another boutique that they love and think could be the one, 45 minutes later, we’ve found the one, the brides in tears and then confessed they that thought they loved the other dress just because that’s the only one mum cried too!

It’s a conversation I have daily in the boutique, I am never going to let you leave in a dress that you don’t look stunning in because I want you to get the best from your wedding photos, because you know what, your wedding photos are going to be my best advertising and while I want you to look amazing, you need to FEEL amazing and that is only going to come from you.

Just because Mum cries that does not mean it’s the one… my mum didn’t cry once during my dress shopping/fittings, she cried when she saw my husband in his suit outside the church though!

The Bestie who said I do last week

I mean we all know she’s got your best interests at heart and doesn’t want you to make the same mistakes that she made, but just because she didn’t have a wonderful experience or got pressured into buying her dress it doesn’t mean you are going to, that’s why *hopefully you are not in the same boutique.

It might feel a bit overbearing having her with you and all her ‘helpful’ advice and anecdotes but you know what she’s still in her wedding high bubble and doesn’t want to let go of being a bride, so might well be living vicariously through you. This is the friend that is going to be fabulous at helping you sort out that table plan or setting up those tables the day before, she will be the friend that deserves to have the reveal shots on the day. I promise…

The Older unmarried Sister

Come on, lets be honest, the words might be saying she’s happy for you but the face won’t be, and you know what, I’m not feeling very *women empowerment vibes* writing this but as much as we all like to think girls are there for each other, there are just some times that no matter how hard you try, sometimes you just can’t be happy for someone else’s joy.

I feel a bit mean using the title Older unmarried Sister, but I can imagine that being me should my sister have got married while I was still single. It can be hard seeing someone have what you want, it can also be hard to understand why someone close to you can’t be happy for your happiness.

THe bridesmaid who wants to be anywhere else but wedding dress shopping

This one is not far away from the older unmarried scenario, this is maybe the friend that you felt should be bridesmaid and couldn’t be left out perhaps, it’s not that they aren’t happy for you, they just don’t perhaps understand the concept of weddings or maybe they don’t understand what the excitement is all about. Trust me, she’s not being spiteful but this is definitely one of the girls that doesn’t NEED to be part of the wedding dress shopping, again she will be a much needed part of those all important reveal shots!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you don’t need the full gang to help you shop, you need someone that’s got your best interests at heart, someone who knows what you want and is going to support you in that, and guess what, that’s what I’m here for.

If you haven’t already booked your appointment and want to know what all the fuss is about, then what are you waiting for?

All my love
